An Oxford man has been accused of defrauding the state out of more than $13,000 in unemployment benefits.

Police say Chad Jacobs, 34, of the Parkview Mobile Home Park, fraudulently received 29 weeks of unemployment benefits. Over those 29 weeks in the spring of 2016, Jacobs was paid $13,181 in benefits.

Jacobs also owes nearly $2000 in penalties to the state for receiving the benefits fraudulently, meaning he must repay Iowa Workforce Development $15,158.

He’s also charged with 1st Degree Fraudulent Practice, a class C felony carrying up to 10 years in prison.
