The Swisher Men’s Club is responding to reports several people fell ill following the organization’s 15th Annual Game Feast Dinner at the Swisher American Legion.

The group issued a statement on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon saying it’s working with the Johnson County and State of Iowa Health Departments to determine the cause of the sicknesses. The state health department is asking anyone who became ill following the February 16 dinner to contact it by emailing [email protected] with a phone number where you can be reached.

In the meantime, the county health department will test samples of the food served to determine the exact nature of the illness. According to the Swisher Men’s Club Facebook page, the menu at the event included deer stir fry, turkey nuts, hog nuts, elk meatloaf, rabbit, raccoon, pheasant alfredo, turtle, goose, smoked turkey, and fish, among other items.

The Game Feast Dinner raised $5,000 for the Swisher Fire Department.
