An Iowa City man facing charges that he sexually abused a child over an approximate two-year span has requested a plea deal.

Attorneys for 31-year-old Scott Michael Suhr of East Court Street entered the plea deal in Johnson County District Court Friday. Online records show Judge Paul Miller set a plea hearing for April 16th. Terms of the deal are not listed.

Suhr, a former employee of Longfellow Elementary School, allegedly performed sex acts on a child under the age of 12 from 2016 to 2018. The victim described the acts to police…the details of which were later corroborated by Suhr in an interview with investigators.

Suhr is charged with 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse. If convicted on that charge, he faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
