Residents of the Golfview manufactured housing community in North Liberty say a town hall-style meeting called by its new owners isn’t enough to address their concerns.

The recently-formed Golfview Residents Association issued a statement Tuesday saying that Havenpark, the mobile home park’s new owners, notified residents of the meeting on Monday. The notice tells residents they must pre-register online to attend the meeting and “disruptive attendees will be asked to leave”.

Golfview Residents Association Board Co-Chair Candi Evans says her group wants to meet with Havenpark management. But she says the proposed town hall, scheduled for Thursday at the South Slope Community Center on Front Street, is not that meeting.

A recent survey conducted by the Golfview Residents Association shows that more than 120 children may be displaced if an announced 60% rent increase goes into effect on July 1st.  The group says additional residents who are disabled, on fixed incomes and elderly are also facing forced relocation.

The Golfview Residents Association plans a news conference outside the community center immediately following Thursday’s closed-door meeting.

Havenpark recently purchased Golfview, Sunrise Village in Iowa City and West Branch Village. The company notified residents that as of July 1st West Branch’s base rent will go up from $310 to $385, while residents of Sunrise are seeing their rent go from $355 to $425.
