CR woman accused of assaulting roommate with sock full of rocks

A Cedar Rapids woman was arrested after allegedly hitting her male roommate with a sock full of rocks and stabbing him.
Authorities say 39-year-old Brenda Bernier got into a fight with the man she lives with on Thursday at their Southgate Court Southwest residence.
Bernier used a sock full of rocks to hit the man in the head, then stabbed him in the arm and shoulder with a butcher knife, requiring the man to seek medical attention.
Police say Bernier admitted to the assault, and was charged with Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, a class D felony with a maximum sentence of five years in prison if convicted.
