IC man accused of driving to probation appointment after consuming vodka

Drinking vodka before heading to an appointment with his probation officer has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to the probation office on Kirkwood Avenue at 1:15 Friday afternoon for an intoxicated subject. According to arrest records, 37-year-old Justin Rush of Broadway Street admitted to drinking vodka before driving to an appointment with his probation officer. Field sobriety testing showed measurable impairment, and Rush registered a .191 blood alcohol concentration on a portable Breathalyzer test. He blew a .167 on a Datamaster.

Rush was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense.
