Allegedly going on a drunken late-night golf cart ride through Lake MacBride State Park has led to a North Liberty man’s arrest.
A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy observed 31-year-old Ethan Eggers of South Park Ridge Road riding a golf cart on a bike trail in the park just after 11:30 Friday night. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the cart when it passed his location on Opie Road. The deputy noticed on open can of beer in the cup holder. Eggers admitted to consuming alcohol, and said he was on his way home from a party.
Eggers showed multiple signs of intoxication on field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at .202 on a portable Breathalyzer test. A Datamaster test at the University of Iowa Police station measured it at .189.
Eggers is charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Entering Public Lands After Hours, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle
