An early morning fight on Iowa City’s southeast side has led to accusations that a woman hit another person over the head and tore hair out of the victim’s scalp.

According to arrest records, 18-year-old Dareasia Banks of Davis Street was at the Town & Campus apartments on Arthur Street just before 4:30 Sunday morning when she struck another subject on the head with an unknown object, causing bleeding from the scalp. Banks then allegedly ripped out a lock of the victim’s hair, leaving a bald spot on the front of the subject’s skull.

Arriving officers discovered Banks and the other person arguing. Banks admitted to hitting the other person with an object.

Banks is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
