An Iowa City man was taken into custody Sunday after allegedly threatening to kill the protected party in a no-contact order against him.

Police say that 35-year-old Zachary Young of South 7th Avenue forced entry into the residence of the protected party Sunday morning at around 6:45. When the woman woke up, she says Young was standing over her and told her that he was going to kill her.

Young was taken to the Johnson County Jail and initially charged with violation of a no-contact order. He’s also been charged with first degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years.
