No injuries were reported after a car vs. school bus accident outside of West Branch Friday afternoon.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the bus was stopped at a residence on the 5400 block of Lower West Branch Road around 4pm when it was struck by a westbound Chevy Impala. An investigation determined that the bus had its lights flashing as it prepared to drop off students. The sheriff’s office says the driver of the car, West Branch High School student Dakota Kaalberg of Atalissa, lost control and struck the driver’s side front bumper of the bus.

None of the 16 students on the bus nor the driver were injured. The students were transferred to another bus and transported home.

Kaalberg was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions.
