A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested on a warrant stemming from an incident at the Johnson County Courthouse in November.

According to reports, 24-year-old Eddie Ayers of F Avenue Northeast was at the facility for a hearing on November 5th. After the proceedings concluded, Ayers reportedly refused to obey lawful orders and directions of a deputy.

Ayers allegedly warned that he was going to fight and made comments about him having to be killed while refusing to comply. Deputies say that Ayers actively resisted deputies while restrained in the courthouse elevator, causing a deputy and himself to suffer bodily injury.

An arrest warrant was issued on November 13th, and Ayers was booked into the Johnson County Jail Wednesday morning. He’s been charged with Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
