Another death from COVID-19 was announced Tuesday by governor Kim Reynolds, bringing the total to 26 in Iowa.

Another 102 cases were reported, bringing the total over 1000 to 1004. Linn County continues to have the most cases, with 186. Johnson County now has the second highest total with 134, and Polk County now has 125 cases.

During her news conference, Reynolds also announced that three new counties were added to the total with at least one case of coronavirus, bringing the total to 78.

104 people are currently hospitalized, 89 have been discharged and currently recovering, and 646 have tested positive but did not require hospitalization.

Of the reported cases, the most are among adults between the ages of 41-60, with 387.  That’s more than adults 61 and older, who have a total of 343. Initial reports of the virus said that it mostly affected seniors, but even children under 18 have tested positive for coronavirus.

Nationally, the University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation predicts the peak of the coronavirus to be April 16th, while in Iowa it’s projected for April 29th and 30th.
