An Iowa City man wanted on drug charges from an incident earlier this month has been taken into custody after an alleged domestic assault.
Arrest reports indicate that 22-year-old Berk Inanc of East College Street was at his residence with his significant other Monday morning at approximately 11:21 and is accused of picking up and slamming the woman to the ground, causing swelling and bruising on her face.
The woman went to the bathroom to separate herself from Inanc, but he reportedly forced the door open, causing damage. She stated that she feared personal injury as a result of Inanc’s actions.
He was wanted on drug charges from an April 3rd incident where he allegedly sold two THC cartridges for $10 in downtown Iowa City. The cartridges were sent to the lab for testing and tested positive for the drug.
Inanc was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault and a controlled substance violation. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to a maximum prison sentence of six years.
A no-contact order was requested between the two.
