Governor Kim Reynolds announced the further easing of restrictions in the state Wednesday.
During her daily news briefing, she announced that movie theatres, zoos, aquariums, museums and wedding reception venues can open Friday, providing they have safety measures in place for both employees and customers.
The governor also will allow swimming pools to open for laps and lessons.
Also, state parks will be opening all modern restrooms, shower buildings and cabins starting Friday so that campers can enjoy facilities over Memorial Day weekend, with some restrictions.
Starting Thursday May 28th, bars and other establishments that serve alcohol can reopen for indoor and outdoor seating, provided they adhere to the 50 percent capacity limit and the same public health guidelines restaurants are following.
Reynolds also announced that school sponsored activities and learning can resume June 1st. That includes high school baseball and softball. The state is now working with the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the Department of Public Health and other youth organizations to develop a plan to bring other sports back this summer.
Casinos remain on the closed list.
Reynolds said she would have more details Thursday.
