The Johnson County Sheriff’s office arrested a Wellman man Saturday afternoon for allegedly boating while intoxicated on the Coralville Reservoir.

According to arrest records, Iowa Department of Natural Resources officers stopped a boat being piloted by 21-year-old Dustin Miller of Highway 22 at 4:20pm because it was travelling too fast through the no-wake zone at Mehaffey Bridge. The vessel also lacked a visible capacity number, as required by law.

DNR officials say during a safety check Miller was slow to respond to questions and lacked fine motor skills. He also allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol content was measured at .136 on a portable Breathalyzer test and .142 on a Datamatser.

Miller was arrested and charged with Operating a Motorboat While Intoxicated.
