A suspect with a no-contact order against him was arrested after he was allegedly found inside the protected party’s home with a shotgun.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Blackhawk Avenue just after 10:30 Thursday night for a suspicious vehicle outside. Officers ran the license plate and learned it belonged to 31-year-old Aaron Tripses of South English, who has a no-contact order with a nearby homeowner and her children. The homeowner advised deputies that Tripses wasn’t there and they could search her residence.
Tripses was found hiding in the master bedroom closet with a loaded shotgun next to the door.
Tripses was arrested and charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon and three no-contact order violations. If convicted of the firearm charge, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
Tripses was also arrested after a July 17th incident at the Heartland Inn in Coralville, where he allegedly attacked his wife, forced her into his car and drove her back to their residence, where he allegedly continued the attack. Tripses was charged with Child Endangerment, Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, two counts of Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury, 3rd Degree Kidnapping, and False Imprisonment. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
