Allegedly stabbing another person multiple times on New Year’s Eve has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to the Forest View manufactured housing community just after 2:15 Thursday afternoon. Witnesses say 26-year-old Diana Rivera used a pocket knife to stab the victim in the arm. The victim then ran outside the trailer with Rivera in pursuit. Rivera then allegedly stabbed the person multiple times in the stomach and back.

The victim was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment, but police say there were no serious injuries.

Officers were then dispatched to Rivera’s residence in the Hilltop manufactured housing community, where she was found along with a person with whom she had a no-contact order. Rivera was arrested and taken to ICPD headquarters on East Washington Street to be interviewed. While there, she allegedly refused officers’ commands, kicked at an officer and attempted to take an officer’s Taser. The last act led to Rivera being physically restrained.

Rivera is charged with Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, Interference with Official Acts, Disarming a Peace Officer and Violating a No-Contact Order. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of over ten years in prison.
