An alleged domestic assault late Saturday night resulted in the arrest of an Iowa City man.

Police were dispatched to the Sylvan Glen Court residence of 40-year-old Anderson Lombo, where they spoke to the victim. Officers reported several cuts and scratches to the victim’s lips and face, neck and upper chest area.

The victim told police that Lombo began striking them with a closed fist several times, then dragged them off the bed and onto the floor, where he put his arms around the victim’s neck and began choking them.

The victim reported that they feared for their life and tried to leave, but Lombo allegedly refused to stop assaulting them. He also allegedly stated that he was going to kill the victim.

Police say the injuries sustained by the victim were still fresh when they arrived.

Lombo was taken into custody and charged with 1st offense Domestic Abuse Assault and Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow. If convicted on the charges, he could be sentenced to over two years in prison.

A no-contact order was requested between Lombo and the victim.
