The man involved in a fatal crash on I380 earlier this month has turned himself in after an investigation revealed he was intoxicated.

Cedar Rapids Police say that 34-year-old Tyler Lee of Rockton, Illinois was driving his Ford F-150 truck southbound in the northbound lanes early March 7th when he struck a Chevy Suburuban with four occupants. One of the passengers in the Suburban, 23-year-old David Ngyuyen of Cedar Rapids, was killed, with the driver and another occupant suffering serious injuries.

Based on evidence from their investigation, Cedar Rapids Police announced warrants for Lee Wednesday afternoon at 2:30pm. He was charged with Vehicular Homicide while Intoxicated, Vehicular Homicide while driving recklessly, and two counts of Serious Injury by Motor Vehicle. About 90 minutes later, Lee turned himself into authorities.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported earlier that Lee is a defendant in a case out of Winnebago County Illinois. He’s been charged with first-degree murder and 11 other offenses stemming from a 2017 fatal shooting in Love’s Park, near Rockford. Bail was set at a million dollars. Court records show he was able to post bail and was released pending court proceedings.
