An Iowa City man has been arrested after chasing another man in broad daylight and firing shots at him.

Police say the incident occurred in the 1100 block of Hollywood Boulevard just after noon Wednesday. Police say 55-year-old Antonio Jackson exited the front door of his house and then is seen running after a man who was standing in the middle of the street. Jackson allegedly was seen and heard firing seven shots from a firearm.

A search warrant was executed at the residence, and officers reportedly located about 25 grams of marijuana, all individually wrapped into baggies containing about 2 grams each. A digital scale and Ziploc baggies were also allegedly found.

During a subsequent interview, Jackson reportedly stated that he “took things to the extreme.”  Witnesses reportedly told dispatch that Jackson was chasing a man who was running away from him, and officers located shell casings in front of Jackson’s house. Officers later learned that Jackson had called his landlord last week, stating he was going to shoot the man because of a neighbor dispute.

Arrest reports indicate that Jackson has several felony convictions and is a domestic assault abuser, and as such is not allowed to possess any firearms.

Jackson faces several charges, including Attempted Murder, Going Armed with Intent, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon, and a Controlled Substance violation. He faces up to fifty years in prison if convicted.
