The Kwik Star corporation has confirmed details of its upcoming location in southeast Iowa City.

Local residents have known for months that the city’s first Kwik Star location was being built at the corner of Keokuk Street and Hollywood Boulevard, on the site of the former Suburban BP Amoco, Phil’s Building Supplies and other now-defunct adjacent businesses. A Kwik Star official recently told the Cedar Rapids Gazette that the new location is expected to open on December 2nd.

The new store will be 9,100 square feet and include fresh food made in-house, a car wash, and an expanded selection.

Iowa and Illinois Kwik Star locations are owned by the Kwik Trip company which already owns the Tobacco Outlet Plus location on South Riverside Drive. The company’s Cheese Mountain Pizza is already served at Kinnick Stadium, despite the company not yet having a location in Johnson County.
