A second suspect has been arrested for her alleged part in the theft of catalytic converters in North Liberty.
38-year-old Erin Thomas of La Grange, Missouri was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 9:45 Friday morning. Her alleged accomplice, 42-year-old Chad Arment of Edina, Missouri was originally booked into the Johnson County Jail last month. Arment was arrested after North Liberty Police say they found him and Thomas in possession of four catalytic converters near the corner of Brook Ridge Avenue and St. Andrew’s Drive just after 2:30am on June 22nd. It was determined that one of the converters was taken from a Ford F150 parked at Junge Ford on North Madison Avenue for service. Junge Ford is about a mile north of where Thomas and Arment were found.
Thomas and Arment are both charged with 2nd Degree Theft and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on both charges, they each face a maximum of six years in prison.
Arment is also accused of stealing catalytic converters from vehicles parked on Dolphin Drive in Iowa City between 4 and 4:30am on June 21st. He faces additional charges of 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief and 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted on those charges, he faces a maximum of 11 years in prison.
