Allegedly firing a gun into the air to intimidate the father of her child has led to an Iowa City woman’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to a report of shots fired on the 3300 block of East Washington Street just before 7:45 Friday night. An investigation determined that 26-year-old Tandrea Rogers had been outside her residence arguing with the father of her child as he sat in a car with his significant other and his and Rogers’ child. At one point, Rogers allegedly pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and fired it down the street. As the alleged victims sped away, Rogers allegedly pointed the gun at their car.

Police say earlier in the day Rogers told the man over the phone, “Don’t make me go there. Ima kill you.”

The victims say they found a spent shell casing lodged near their windshield wiper once they got home, and investigators say they found two unspent shell casings in Rogers’ living room. All three shell casings matched.

Rogers admitted she once owned a .45 caliber pistol, but that it was stolen and she never reported it. Police say while they were speaking with Rogers she showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and provided a blood alcohol reading of .100%.

Rogers was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault While Using or Displaying a Weapon and one count each of Domestic Abuse Assault While Displaying a Weapon, Carrying Weapons While Intoxicated, Going Armed With Intent, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Child Endangerment and 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on all charges, Rogers faces a maximum of 26 years in prison.
