An Iowa City man was taken into custody on a warrant stemming from an incident at a nearby watering hole.

Police say the incident occurred at the Hilltop Tavern on North Dodge Street in the early hours of September 5th. 47-year-old Jeremy Marvell of the 800 block of North Dodge was reportedly ejected by staff and left the building. He got into his car and squealed the tires before allegedly ramming a railing to a walkway for the establishment, nearly hitting a staff member.

The cost to repair the railing was estimated to be $1000.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on September 17th;  Marvell was served on Sunday. He’s charged with 3rd degree Criminal Mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was also cited for reckless driving.

Marvell’s initial appearance was waived on Monday.
