An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly trying to break into an unoccupied warehouse.
Police say 32-year-old James Black of Apollo Place was caught on camera Sunday afternoon around 4:15, attempting to enter the structure, in the 2500 block of Highway 6 East. The security footage shows him beating on the door and trying the door handle.
When officers arrived, Black reportedly hid from them behind some crates. When they found him, Black allegedly had a meth pipe and a baggie containing a crystalline substance in his pockets.
Black was taken into custody and charged with 3rd degree Attempted Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interference with Official Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
