A local transient has been arrested after a reported incident at a gender reveal party.

Iowa City Police say 32-year-old James Dobbins was asked to leave the party at the alleged victim’s residence on Shady Glen Court just after 8pm Saturday.  Dobbins reportedly refused, and once he was forced outside he reportedly slashed the victim’s car tires and kicked the front door of the residence, causing significant enough damage that it could not be shut or secured.

Arriving officers found Dobbins at the nearby Mormon Trek Boulevard Kum & Go. A search of his person allegedly turned up ten individual packages of marijuana intended for sale totaling 101 grams. Three pills believed to be Xanax have been sent to the DCI lab for testing.

Dobbins is charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, a Controlled Substance Violation and a Drug Tax Stamp Violation. If convicted on all charges, Dobbins faces a maximum of over 11 years in prison.
