Alleged shoplifter accused of stealing over $1,600 in merchandise from Coralville retailer

An alleged shoplifter is accused of stealing over $1,600 in merchandise from a Coralville retailer.

Loss prevention at Scheels in the Coral Ridge Mall told Coralville Police that just before 7:45 Saturday night 37-year-old Joanna Davis of Muscatine was seen on security video using coats and other garments to conceal selected merchandise. She also allegedly took off the shoes she wore into the store and placed a new pair of shoes on her feet before walking past all points of purchase with the hidden merchandise. The total value of the shoes and other merchandise was $1,646.84.

Davis is charged with 2nd Degree Theft, a Class D Felony punishable a maximum of five years in prison.
