A Las Vegas woman faces several charges after allegedly stealing a company’s truck, totaling it while drunk, and assaulting staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

According to the arrest reports, at approximately 4:45pm Monday, 38-year-old Jamie Lynn Penola stole a truck owned by Country Landscapes. While in possession of the 2012 Chevy Silverado, she allegedly failed to yield at a stop sign and hit a 2012 Honda Pilot, totaling both vehicles.

At the scene, Penola reportedly admitted to having six Fireball shooters prior to getting behind the wheel. One unopened shooter was located on her person, and a preliminary PBT allegedly showed Penola’s blood-alcohol level at .222 percent.

The woman was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of her injuries. One of the staff members was attempting to put a blood pressure cuff on her arm when she allegedly ripped her arm away from the man, punched him in the chest and kneed in the groin. She reportedly had to be restrained by other staff members.

Penola tried to leave the room, but a UIHC security guard was standing in front of the main door. Penola allegedly kicked and kneed him while attempting to escape. She later gave statements threatening to “eff up” the staff.

Penola was taken to the Johnson County Jail just after 11pm and charged with OWI 1st offense, 1st degree Theft, and two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted on all charges, Penola faces up to thirteen years in prison.
