A North Liberty woman was taken into custody for OWI after her reported erratic driving caused her to be stopped by authorities.

22-year-old Kendyl Kent of Alydar Drive was observed on Ranshaw Way North by another motorist, who reported that she was swerving all over the roadway, and that they could smell marijuana possibly coming from Kent’s vehicle.

A traffic stop was initiated, and Kent reportedly had a 22-month old child inside. She allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech at times, and unsteady balance. After showing measurable impairment on field tests, she submitted to a drug influence evaluation, which determined that Kent was under the influence of cannabis.

Kent was charged with OWI first offense and Child Endangerment. She could be sentenced to up to three years in jail if convicted on both counts.
