Residents of Iowa City manufactured home parks including Lake Ridge, Modern Manor, and Sunrise Village will be joined by community supporters and elected officials to issue demands to park owner Havenpark.

In a release from the Iowa Manufactured Home Residents Network, the residents will hold a press conference Wednesday morning at Modern Manor, calling on Havenpark to stop unjustified, repeated lot rent increases and address elimination of park services, declining park maintenance, and non-responsive park management.

Residents of the Iowa City properties are joining others across the state who have banded together as part of the Iowa Manufactured Home Residents Network to defend against predatory business practices of out-of-state park owners and to advocate for state legislation to better protect Iowa residents. Legislation passed this year by the Iowa House and Senate increased the eviction notice time, but residents say the lawmakers didn’t do enough.

Havenpark Communities is based out of Utah. They first came under fire in 2019 after announcing 50-70% lot rent increases in Iowa parks the group purchased. Havenpark purchased two additional local parks last year and now owns five mobile home parks in Johnson County.
