A local transient is accused of returning to Shelter House with an axe after being trespassed from the facility.

37-year-old Carrie O’Hare was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 4:15 Friday morning. Iowa City Police say O’Hare was given a trespass warning for Shelter House on July 12th of last year. Just after 6:30am on July 20th, she reportedly returned to the Southgate Avenue facility while wielding an axe. O’Hare dropped the axe when ordered to by Shelter House staff before she left the area. She then returned moments later, screaming and walking down the middle of the street.

O’Hare is now charged with Trespassing and Disorderly Conduct. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
