Two Cedar Rapids men have reached a plea deal in an Iowa City armed robbery case.

Court records show 26-year-old Nemetorbor Siaway of River Bluff Drive and 22-year-old Mandy Gonsan of College Park Court Southwest officially agreed to the plea agreements on Friday.

The two suspects are accused of robbing a victim on the 500 block of South Van Buren Street at 9:10pm on September 30th of last year. The victim and a witness stated that a person approached their car and pointed a handgun directly at the victim’s face. He allegedly threatened to “blow his head off” if he didn’t hand over cash and property.

The victim complied, but was still struck by the man with the gun several times, causing injury. The suspect and an accomplice then fled the scene in a Honda Civic.

The two were each charged with 1st Degree Robbery, with Siaway facing an additional charge of Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon. If convicted, Gonsan would have faced up to 25 years in prison, with Siaway facing an additional five years behind bars.

Terms of the plea deal have not been released. Siaway has a plea hearing set for April 21st, while Gonsan’s plea hearing is set for June 2nd.
