Iowa City Police assist in Cedar Falls sexual assault investigation, arrest

The Iowa City Police Department has assisted in the investigation into and arrest of a wanted sexual assault suspect from a case in Cedar Falls.

That’s according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, which issued a Wednesday morning news release about the suspect’s arrest. The release indicates the Department of Criminal Investigations confirmed on Monday that DNA collected from two separate assaults matches that of a man named Asante Walker-Garcia Adams. Adams has since been charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault 2nd and two counts of 1st Degree Burglary. If convicted on all  charges, he faces a maximum of one-hundred years in prison.

The DCI says it was assisted by Cedar Falls Police, Iowa City Police, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Police, Cedar Valley CrimeStoppers, the DCI Major Crime Unit, the DCI Sex Offender Registry Unit, and the DCI Criminalistics Laboratory.
