An area man was taken into custody after warrants were issued for his arrest on sex offender violation charges.

According to police, 38-year-old Aenoy Panyanouvong is required to register on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry due to a Sexual Abuse conviction in Polk County from 2004.  He reportedly absconded from Hope House in Coralville on June 28th. The law requires Panyanouvong to update his address within six business days by appearing at the county sheriff’s office in person. As of July 7th, he had not fulfilled this requirement.

An arrest warrant was issued, and authorities arrested him Tuesday morning.  Panyanouvong was charged with Sex Offender Violations, first and second offenses, and Voluntary Escape.  If convicted on the charges, he could be sentenced to up to eight years in prison.
