A Cedar County woman faces charges that she used a credit card stolen from an elderly dementia patient to go on a spending spree in Coralville.

Court records indicate 26-year-old Cheyanne Batzkiel of Tipton was taken into custody on Tuesday. Coralville Police say on the afternoon of July 9th Batzkiel used a stolen credit card to make $312.77 in purchases at Walmart and T.J. Maxx. The Walmart purchases were recorded on security video, and Batzkiel allegedly admitted to making the transactions.

The credit card was reported stolen from an over 60-year-old dementia patient.

Batzkiel is charged with Financial Exploitation of an Older Individual and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of four years in jail.
