A University of Iowa student chose the wrong vehicle on which to take out his frustrations over the weekend after he allegedly punched the hood of an unmarked police squad car, leading to his arrest.

Iowa City Police say a business major from Palatine, Illinois was walking past the unmarked vehicle as it was parked in the lot of the Burlington Commons apartments at 429 East Burlington Street at 2:30 Sunday morning when he punched the hood. The officer inside exited the vehicle and confronted the man, who reportedly fled into the building and tried to gain entry into his apartment. He was taken to the ground by the officer before he could open his door.

Police say the suspect showed signs of intoxication and was in possession of a fake ID. He’s charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Fictitious License.
