The Hills Fire Department and Hills Firefighters Association have announced the department has been approved for a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
A post on the department’s Facebook page indicates the 2023 Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant for $1,747 will be used to purchase five-gallon water bladder bags, chainsaws, leaf blowers and hoses with nozzles.
The new equipment will be used to assist the Hills Fire Department in the fighting of wildland and field fires.
