An Iowa City transient was arrested after allegedly smoking marijuana in the laundry room of an apartment building.

Police were called to the 300 block of South Clinton Street on reports of someone smoking in the laundry room.  The responding officer reported smelling burnt marijuana immediately upon entering the building.  He located 32-year-old Yshan Rogers, who reportedly was actively using a “one-hitter.”

Rogers allegedly admitted he was smoking weed and admitted to being stoned.  A search incident to arrest also reportedly found a glass pipe used for smoking drugs.

He was taken into custody and charged with 2nd offense Controlled Substance possession and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, Rogers could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail.

Rogers was arrested on a handful of charges last year, including drug possession, OWI, vehicle theft, liquor theft, and damaging washing machines when stealing change from them.  On November 14th, he reached a plea deal that included 90 days in jail, a fine, suspended sentences and probation.
