An area transient was arrested after allegedly threatening and assaulting paramedics who were transporting her to the hospital.

50-year-old Alizabeth Brammeier was trespassed from the 1st Avenue HyVee Wednesday evening and reportedly was behaving erratically.  She was observed with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol.

It was determined that Brammeier needed medical attention, and an ambulance was summoned.  While on the way to the hospital, she allegedly spit on a paramedic and attempted to kick another. She also threatened to murder one of them in their sleep.  Once on site, Brammeier reportedly was verbally combative to hospital staff and officers.

After being checked out, she was walked out to a squad car and allegedly resisted, dragging her feet while being escorted to the vehicle.

Brammeier was charged with Public Intoxication, Interference with Official Acts, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, and 1st degree Harassment.  If convicted on all counts, she faces a jail sentence of up to 38 months.
