Allegedly assaulting a Walmart employee during a shoplifting attempt has led to a felony robbery charge against an Iowa City woman.
According to arrest records, staff at the Iowa City Walmart confronted 27-year-old Brianna Harvey of Petsel Place as she was leaving the store with a cart full of merchandise just before 1:45 p.m. on February 9th. An employee asked Harvey for her receipt, which she handed to her before continuing to walk away. The employee told police she noticed several items inside the cart were not listed on the receipt. Harvey allegedly refused attempts to stop her, including reportedly punching the employee in the face. The woman suffered abrasions on her face and her glasses were thrown off. The gathered employees allowed Harvey to leave to avoid further physicality. Police say she fled with $97.83 in merchandise.
Harvey was arrested on Monday and charged with 2nd Degree Robbery. If convicted, she faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
