A Coralville man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after an alleged assault on a woman at his 21st Avenue Place residence.

Police say the incident occurred at approximately 5:15am between 27-year-old Christian Gonzalez and the victim.  The two were reportedly arguing when Gonzalez allegedly pushed the victim, causing her arm to hit her own face and cause bleeding to her lip.  Gonzalez was reportedly holding the woman’s car keys and during the struggle she got cut on her left hand.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail if convicted.  A second no-contact order was requested between the parties involved; Gonzalez was ordered to not be in the presence of the protected victim on March 12th.
