An Iowa City man has a court date after allegedly assaulting a man after he disparaged his weight.
Just before 11am Wednesday, 41-year-old Ryan Cannon of South Dubuque Street was at the New Pioneer CoOp on South Van Buren Street and allegedly poked a man he called a fat eff. The two reportedly began grappling, and Cannon is accused of punching the man in the face. When police arrived, Cannon admitted to striking the man.
He has a court date May 8th to face simple assault charges. He could be sentenced to up to 30 days in jail.
