Breaking into a restaurant after it closes for the day is usually a good strategy…but not when that restaurant is located inside a 24-hour business.
That was a lesson learned by a Coralville man last summer. Coralville Police say 30-year-old John Grafton of 10th Street entered the Subway inside Walmart on Commerce Drive just before midnight on August 2nd. Grafton is a former employee of the restaurant. The Subway was closed at the time, but Walmart is open 24 hours a day.
Police say Grafton is seen on video taking $140 from the refrigerator and cash drawer.
Grafton was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5:15 Thursday night and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
