What happens when you’re a major university athletics department, you stock up your merchandise stands for the upcoming season…and then that season never happens?

That’s the situation the University of Iowa Athletics department faced after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled spring sports seasons, including baseball and softball.

The UI had ordered new merchandise for the 2020 Hawkeye baseball season, which was cancelled after just three home games. So the university did what any business would when it’s overstocked: They’re holding a fire sale.

Select Iowa baseball merchandise is now 25% off at the UI’s official online store, hawkeyefanshop.com.

There is no indication if a similar sale is planned for Hawkeye softball.
