ACT has announced it is eliminating approximately 155 full-time positions at its Iowa City headquarters.

The college testing company made the announcement in a Tuesday afternoon news release. According to the email, later this year ACT will transition work being performed by its Customer Care department to STARTEK, a national firm that provides comprehensive contact center and customer engagement solutions. ACT’s Customer Care department provides phone, email and chat support to ACT’s customers.

The move will result in the elimination of approximately 115 full-time ACT positions and 40 temporary positions in the Iowa City area.

The transition to STARTEK will begin on August 1st, with the changeover expected to be completed in November.

ACT says the company is committed to helping the affected individuals transition successfully by providing various support, including job-seeking support, in the coming months. ACT team members who do not find other positions with ACT will receive severance packages.
