ICPD searching for suspects in pair of shootings

Iowa City Police are looking for suspects in pair of shootings Thursday night and Friday morning.

The first incident occurred at 9:40pm Thursday, when police responded to the 700 block of Westwinds Drive for multiple reports of shots fired. Officers did not locate anything at the time; however, a witness reported to police that a silver sedan was in the area, drove off, then returned and a shot was fired. The vehicle then sped off. Officers did not receive any reports of anyone injured by the gunfire and no suspect description is available at this time.

This case number is: 2020006824.

The second incident happened at approximately 12:37 a.m. Friday. Iowa City Police responded to the 1000 block of Wade Street for multiple 9-1-1 calls of shots being fired. Officers also received a call from an adult whose vehicle was shot while driving southbound in the area at that time. The vehicle sustained damage and officers located evidence corroborating the shots fired with both the vehicle and in the 1000 block of Wade Street. No injuries were reported to police and no suspect description is available at this time.

At this time, it is unknown if these two shootings are related. Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact the ICPD at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact ICPD with any potential footage or information about this incident.
