Allegedly using another person’s food stamp card to make hundreds of dollars in purchases has led to the arrest of a North Liberty woman.

North Liberty Police say 42-year-old Tracie Prier used another person’s benefits card to purchase more than $800 in goods and services from area Fareway and Hy-Vee stores between March and June of this year. Prier was not authorized to use the card.

Police say a search of Prier’s Velvet Lane residence turned up the card. She’s also seen using it on surveillance video, and she later admitted to doing so during a police interview.

Prier was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 7:45 Thursday morning and charged with 3rd Degree Fraudulent Practices. If convicted, she faces a maximum of two years in prison.
