A Hope House resident is back behind bars after allegedly absconding from the Coralville facility earlier this month.

36-year-old Deshon Holmes was booked in to the Johnson County Jail just before 9:15 Sunday night. Police records show Holmes signed out of Hope House just before 6am on Friday to go to work at Sunoco on Independence Road in Iowa City.  He was due back by 6:30pm, but failed to return.

Holmes is charged with Escape From Custody, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail. He was sentenced to Hope House on a Domestic Abuse charge after police say he assaulted his girlfriend at the Iowa Lodge last September.
