Cedar Rapids Police make arrest in Sunday stabbing

Cedar Rapids police have charged a 40-year-old woman with Attempted Murder and other offenses in regards to an incident late Sunday afternoon.

According to a release from the CRPD, Dispatchers received a call at approximately 5:59pm that an individual had been stabbed in the 1500 block of Washington Avenue Southeast.  Officers located 63-year-old Willey Davis of Cedar Rapids, suffering from multiple stab wounds.  Davis received medical care on-site and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  His condition at the time was believed to be non-life-threatening.

At the same time, another CRPD unit located a car and driver matching the description of the alleged assailant.  Officers attempted a traffic stop which resulted in a pursuit that ended in the Police Station parking lot.

Latoya Taylor was taken into custody, charged with Attempted Murder, OWI third offense, Eluding, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, and Driving While Barred. If convicted on all counts, she could be sentenced to up to 42 years in prison.

The incident remains under investigation.
