A Des Moines man is accused of assaulting his wife of 14 years in Coralville earlier this week.
Police say 54-year-old Abdikarim Daud struck the woman multiple times Wednesday evening, resulting in bruises to both of her cheeks. He was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor.
A no-contact order was issued yesterday by Judge Brandon Schrock that didn’t take long to be violated.
Police stopped Daud’s wife for reportedly making an illegal turn at the intersection of the Coralville Strip and 12th Avenue just before midnight, and Daud was in the passenger seat. The two admitted they were staying together.
Daud was arrested again and charged with Contempt.
